ORIGINAL HOLMES BROS SURFBOARDS

SURFBOARDS
About 5 years ago we were so tired of riding 6’ 3 thrusters, I shaped up a couple of authentic fish and were instantly blown away by the speed and glide. It was like a light went off in my head it totally renewed my interest in shaping, suddenly there were possibilitys. Although the fish went well it was a 30 years out of date, I started looking at keeping the glide and speed, but getting it to perform like a modern board. Max Wettland had developed an inverted rail long board that flew, so over many cups of tea we discussed trying to adapt the concept to a short board. The first one we made was so fast we kept falling off the back, but was impossible to turn. Over the next couple of years we kept tweaking the rails and the bottom contours until we achieved a balance between speed and performance. I knew we had it right when people stopped laughing and started begging us to make them one.
We have now developed 2 models for different surf. We have had the shapes scanned onto the computer cutting machine and use Baron Surfboards for finishing.
